Ingredients

Chocolate Ganache:

Steps

  1. Sift 240 g wheat flour, 80 g cocoa powder, 2 tsp baking soda, and 1/2 tsp salt into a bowl, then set aside.
  2. Mash 6 ripe bananas with a fork, giving about 500 g net weight.
  3. Add 2 large eggs, then stir until evenly combined.
  4. Add 100 ml cooking oil, 120 g cooled melted margarine, 200 g granulated sugar, and 2 tsp vanilla.
  5. Stir the batter until evenly combined.
  6. Add the sifted dry ingredients, then fold from the bottom up with a whisk or spatula until evenly combined.
  7. Grease a 20x20 cm tin thinly with cooking oil and line the base with baking paper.
  8. Pour the batter into the tin, level it with a spoon or spatula, then tap the tin a few times.
  9. Steam for about 50 minutes over medium-low heat in a steamer already at the boil, with the lid wrapped in a clean cloth.
  10. While it steams, bring water to the boil in a pot and set a bowl over it with 100 g dark cooking chocolate chopped small and 50 ml liquid milk.
  11. Stir until the chocolate melts and is evenly combined.
  12. After 50 minutes, do a skewer test, then lift the tin out of the steamer.
  13. While still hot, turn the cake out of the tin and peel off the baking paper.
  14. Once the cake is cool, pour the chocolate ganache over and spread it with a spoon or spatula.
  15. Slice the cake with a sharp knife and serve.
