Ingredients

Steps

  1. Put 3 sachets of Milo and 6 tbsp hot water into a bowl, then stir until the Milo dissolves and set it aside.
  2. Put 2 eggs and 6 tbsp granulated sugar into another bowl, then stir until evenly combined and the sugar has dissolved.
  3. Sift 6 heaped tbsp all-purpose flour, 1/4 tsp baking powder, 1/4 tsp baking soda and 1/4 tsp salt into the egg mixture.
  4. Stir until evenly combined.
  5. Add 2 sachets of sweetened condensed milk, about 80 g, then stir again until evenly combined.
  6. Stir the dissolved Milo first, then pour it into the batter and stir until evenly combined.
  7. Add 6 tbsp cooking oil, then stir until evenly combined with no oil settled at the bottom of the bowl, otherwise the cake will be dense.
  8. Fold briefly with a spatula to make sure no oil is left settled at the base.
  9. Grease a mould or tin thinly with margarine, pour in the batter, then tap the tin a few times so trapped air can escape.
  10. Steam for about 25 minutes over medium heat in a steamer whose water is already boiling, and wrap the steamer lid in a clean cloth so condensation does not drip onto the batter.
  11. After 25 minutes, test with a skewer; if no batter clings to it the cake is done.
  12. Lift the cake out of the steamer, let it stand until just warm, then turn it out of the mould.
