Ingredients

Custard:

Steps

  1. Turn on medium heat, prepare a pot, then add 80 g margarine and cook until it melts.
  2. Add 100 ml water and 100 ml liquid milk, stir until evenly combined, then cook until it boils.
  3. Mix 180 g medium-protein wheat flour with 1 tsp baking powder and half a teaspoon of salt.
  4. Add the flour mixture to the pot, then stir until evenly combined and the dough comes away cleanly.
  5. Turn off the heat, transfer the dough to another bowl, spread it out, then rest it for about 10 minutes until the steam has gone.
  6. Add 4 eggs one at a time, stirring continuously until the mixture is evenly combined and feels heavy.
  7. Line a tin with baking paper and grease it with margarine, then pour in half the mixture and level it with a spatula.
  8. Preheat the oven for about 10 minutes, place the tin on the lowest rack, then bake at 180 degrees Celsius with top and bottom heat for about 20 minutes until done.
  9. Take the tin out of the oven, turn the cake out, peel off the baking paper, then set it aside.
  10. Bake the remaining mixture the same way.
  11. For the custard, prepare a pot and add 2 eggs and 150 g granulated sugar, then stir until evenly combined and the sugar dissolves.
  12. Add 100 g wheat flour gradually, a little at a time, stirring until evenly combined.
  13. Add half a teaspoon of vanilla and 500 ml liquid milk, then stir again until evenly combined.
  14. Turn on medium heat and cook, stirring constantly, until it boils, thickens and bubbles, then turn off the heat.
  15. Cover the pot and leave the custard until it is cold.
  16. Prepare a bowl, add 180 g margarine, then beat on maximum speed for about five minutes until light and pale.
  17. Add the cooled custard to the margarine in stages, stirring until evenly combined.
  18. Put one sheet of the baked cake back into the tin, then spread the custard cream over it.
  19. Cover with the second sheet of cake and press it down gently.
  20. Chill the cake in the fridge so it sets more firmly, then dust it with powdered sugar before serving.
