Ingredients

Steps

  1. Peel 4 ripe bananas and mash them with a pestle wrapped in plastic or a fork, then set aside.
  2. Prepare a bowl, add 2 medium eggs, 100 g granulated sugar and half a teaspoon of vanilla powder, then stir until evenly combined and the sugar dissolves.
  3. Add the egg mixture to the mashed banana, then stir until evenly combined.
  4. Sift 120 g wheat flour, a pinch of salt and 1 tsp baking soda or baking powder into the batter.
  5. Stir the batter until evenly combined.
  6. Add 40 ml cooking oil, then stir until evenly combined with no oil left pooling at the bottom.
  7. Stir again with a spatula, folding from the bottom up, to make sure no oil is left underneath.
  8. Grease a tin measuring 20 cm long, 10 cm wide and 6 cm deep thinly with cooking oil.
  9. Stir the batter briefly, then pour it into the tin and level the surface.
  10. Tap the tin a few times so trapped air can escape.
  11. Put the tin into a steamer whose water is already boiling, cover with a lid wrapped in a clean cloth, then steam over medium-low heat for about 30 minutes.
  12. After 30 minutes, test the cake with a skewer; if no batter clings to it, lift the cake out of the steamer and turn it out of the tin.
