Ingredients:

Steps

  1. Grease the tin thinly with margarine, then line it with baking paper.
  2. Sift 70 g wheat flour, 10 g cornstarch, and 10 g milk powder into a bowl.
  3. Add 80 g granulated sugar, 1 tsp vanilla powder, 1 tsp emulsifier, and 5 medium eggs.
  4. Beat at maximum speed for about 10 minutes until the batter is pale, risen, thick, and ribbon-forming.
  5. Add 100 g melted margarine, then fold from the bottom up until no liquid is left settled at the bottom.
  6. Add 1 tsp pandan paste, then fold again until evenly combined.
  7. Pour the batter into the tin, level it with a spatula, then tap the tin a few times.
  8. Preheat the oven for about 10 minutes, then bake on the middle rack at 200 degrees Celsius with top and bottom heat for about 25 minutes until done.
  9. Take the tin out of the oven, run a knife around the edges, then turn the cake out.
  10. Peel the baking paper off the cake, then let it cool completely if you plan to spread it with buttercream.
  11. Beat 300 g shortening at maximum speed for about 20 minutes until white and fluffy.
  12. Add 50 g sweetened condensed milk and 120 g powdered sugar, then beat at maximum speed for about 10 minutes until evenly combined.
  13. Spread the cake with buttercream as desired, then roll it up.
  14. Compact the roll using a cutting board, a knife, or a ruler, then wrap it in the leftover baking paper.
  15. Chill in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes so the roll firms up and sets.
  16. Take the roll out of the fridge, then slice it with a sharp knife and serve.
