Ingredients

Coating Ingredients:

Steps

  1. Peel 1 kg of cassava so the net weight is about 750 g, wash it clean, cut it into pieces and remove the fibrous core.
  2. Put the cut cassava into a blender with 250 ml water, then blend until smooth.
  3. Transfer the blended cassava to a bowl, add 1/2 tsp salt and 250 g granulated sugar, then stir until evenly combined.
  4. Divide the mixture into 3 equal parts to make three colours.
  5. Add 1/4 tsp pandan paste to one part and 1/4 tsp taro paste to another, stir each until evenly combined, and leave the third part white.
  6. For the coating, mix 150 g of the white part of grated coconut with 1/2 tsp salt and 1 pandan leaf torn into strips.
  7. Steam the grated coconut for about 10 minutes over medium heat with the lid on so it does not spoil quickly, then take it out and set it aside.
  8. Grease the moulds thinly with cooking oil, then pour in the batter without filling them too full.
  9. Put the moulds into a steamer whose water is already boiling and steam for about 30 minutes over medium heat until cooked, with the steamer lid wrapped in a clean cloth.
  10. After 30 minutes of steaming, lift the cakes out of the steamer.
  11. Let the cakes cool completely before turning them out of the moulds so they do not break.
  12. Roll the cakes in the steamed grated coconut, then serve.
