STEAK ENAK + KRISPI ONION RING DAH GITU AJA

Steak + Crispy Onion Rings, That's It

Ingredients

Onion Rings:

Steps

Steps were generated from the video narration. Watch the video if unsure.

  1. Cut the onion into rings about 0.5-0.7 cm thick.
  2. Mix the wheat flour and cornstarch in a 1:1 ratio, add baking soda, baking powder, salt, and a little chicken powder.
  3. Pour in cold water a little at a time while stirring until the batter reaches the right consistency (coats evenly but not too thick, test by dipping a ring).
  4. Make the steak sauce: mix soy sauce, honey, a little fish sauce, minced garlic, and water, stir well.
  5. Season the steak with salt (generously) and black pepper on both sides, then rub with a little oil.
  6. Dip the onion rings in the batter, then fry in hot oil (not too hot, just starting to bubble) until golden brown and crispy.
  7. Heat a pan until hot and smoking, then cook the steak (make sure the meat is at room temperature, not fridge-cold) for about 1 minute per side to get a good brown crust.
  8. Flip the steak, cook for about 1 more minute for medium doneness, then lower/turn off the heat, add butter, let it melt, and baste it over the steak.
  9. Remove the steak and let it rest for about 1-2 minutes before slicing.
  10. Slice the steak, serve with the crispy onion rings and the sauce you made.
