Ingredients

Steps

  1. Put 1 tsp instant yeast into a glass, add 50 ml warm water and 1 tsp granulated sugar, then stir until evenly combined.
  2. Cover the glass and leave it for about 5 minutes until the yeast rises and foams.
  3. Put 275 g wheat flour, 40 g powdered sugar, and 25 g milk powder into a bowl, then stir until evenly combined.
  4. Add the activated yeast and 140 ml liquid milk, then stir or knead by hand until evenly combined and half-smooth.
  5. Add a pinch of salt and 35 g shortening, then knead until the shortening is fully worked into the dough.
  6. Round the dough, return it to the bowl, cover with plastic wrap or a clean cloth, then let it rest 60 minutes until doubled in size.
  7. Uncover the bowl, then deflate the dough.
  8. Divide the dough into four equal portions, one for each color you want.
  9. Add 4 drops of food coloring to each portion, then knead until the color is evenly worked through.
  10. Dust your hands with a little flour, then round each colored portion.
  11. Cover the dough with a clean cloth and rest it for 30 minutes.
  12. Divide each colored portion into four pieces of about 32 g each, then round them until smooth.
  13. Take one ball, roll it out with a rolling pin or flatten it by hand, add some chocolate spread, then close it back into a ball, sealing it tightly.
  14. Arrange the filled dough balls in a tin lined with baking paper.
  15. Cover with a clean cloth, then let it rest for 30 minutes until doubled in size.
  16. Dust the surface of the dough lightly with wheat flour.
  17. Preheat the oven for about 10 minutes, then bake on the lower rack at 180 degrees Celsius with top and bottom heat for 35 minutes until the bread is done.
  18. Take the tin out of the oven, then turn the bread out of the tin.
