Ingredients B:

Steps

  1. Put the butter and icing sugar into a bowl.
  2. Beat until fluffy and pale, about five to eight minutes, starting on low speed then raising to maximum speed.
  3. Add the egg yolks one at a time, beating for about 10 seconds on medium speed after each, until all the yolks are in the batter.
  4. Add the vanilla and sweetened condensed milk, then beat again on medium speed until evenly combined.
  5. Add the wheat flour and milk powder, sifting them in, then stir briefly first so the flour does not fly about.
  6. Beat for about 20 seconds on low speed, carry on folding with a spatula from the bottom up until evenly combined, then set it aside.
  7. In another bowl, whip the egg whites on maximum speed for about three minutes until they reach stiff soft peaks.
  8. Add the whipped egg whites to the yolk batter a little at a time while folding until evenly combined.
  9. Dissolve the cocoa powder in hot water, add the chocolate spread, then stir until evenly combined.
  10. Take a little of the cake batter, mix it into the chocolate mixture, then stir until evenly combined.
  11. Set aside one third of the batter, pour in the chocolate paste, then stir until evenly combined.
  12. Grease the tin with a thin layer of margarine.
  13. Pour the plain batter into the tin, then add the chocolate batter in alternating layers until all the batter is used.
  14. Tap the tin several times so the trapped air can escape.
  15. Pour the remaining chocolate batter over the surface, then swirl a pattern into it.
  16. Bake on the lowest rack of a preheated oven at 180 degrees Celsius with top and bottom heat for 15 minutes.
  17. Lower the temperature to 150 degrees Celsius, then carry on baking for about 35 minutes or until the cake is done.
  18. After about 50 minutes in total, test with a skewer to make sure the cake is done, then take the tin out of the oven.
  19. Turn the cake out of the tin while still hot, then slice it once cooled.
