Ingredients

Steps

  1. Break 500 g marie biscuits into three or four pieces each then set them aside.
  2. Put 100 g butter and 100 g margarine into a pot then melt them over low heat.
  3. Add 150 g sweetened condensed milk, 30 g cocoa powder, and 150 g Milo powder, stirring constantly over low heat until combined.
  4. Add 120 ml hot water then cook, stirring constantly, until it boils and is evenly combined.
  5. Once it boils and is evenly combined, turn off the heat.
  6. Add 1 tsp vanilla, 1/4 tsp salt, and 1 egg, then stir quickly until the egg is fully mixed in.
  7. Turn the heat back on at its lowest and cook briefly until combined, then turn it off.
  8. Add the marie biscuits gradually while stirring until evenly coated.
  9. Tip the mixture into a 20x20 cm pan lined with baking paper.
  10. Arrange, press down, and level the biscuit surface.
  11. Put the pan in the fridge while you make the chocolate ganache.
  12. Set 200 g chopped dark cooking chocolate, 1 tbsp margarine, 1 tsp vanilla, and 200 ml liquid whipping cream over a pot of hot water.
  13. Melt over low heat until the chocolate is smooth and evenly combined.
  14. Pour the chocolate over the biscuit base then level it.
  15. Pop the bubbles on the chocolate surface so it looks smooth.
  16. Chill it until set, at least about 5 hours or overnight.
  17. Lift the cake out of the pan and slice it, dipping the knife in hot water and wiping it between cuts.
