Ingredients

Steps

  1. Put one packet of white agar-agar powder into a bowl, pour in a little of the 700 ml of water, stir until evenly combined, then set it aside along with the remaining water.
  2. Put 125 g of granulated sugar into a pot.
  3. Turn the heat to medium and cook until the sugar melts into caramel; do not stir, just swirl the pot so the sugar does not clump.
  4. Once all the sugar has melted into caramel, pour in the rest of the water, then add the agar-agar solution you set aside.
  5. Keep cooking until it boils, then turn off the heat.
  6. Wet the pudding mould with water, pour in half of the mixture, leave it to set briefly, and set the rest of the caramel mixture aside.
  7. Tear up 9 slices of white bread, then put them into the chopper.
  8. Add 150 g of granulated sugar, 3 tablespoons of margarine, 250 g of sweetened condensed milk, a quarter teaspoon of salt, 3 egg yolks, 1 teaspoon of vanilla, 2 packets of white agar-agar powder, 500 ml of liquid milk, and part of the 1 litre of water.
  9. Blitz until smooth and evenly combined.
  10. Pour the mixture into a pot, add the rest of the water, then cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until it boils and thickens.
  11. Once it boils, thickens, and bubbles up, turn off the heat.
  12. Prick the surface of the set caramel pudding with a fork so the layers bond together.
  13. Pour the bread pudding mixture into the mould slowly and in a spreading motion, then dust cocoa powder over the top.
  14. Keep alternating more mixture and cocoa powder until the mixture is used up, then smooth the surface with a spoon or spatula.
  15. Once the top layer has firmed up, reheat the reserved caramel pudding mixture over medium heat until it boils.
  16. Prick the surface of the pudding with a fork, then pour the rest of the caramel pudding into the mould slowly and in a spreading motion.
  17. Leave it to set firm without moving it around, then chill it in the fridge for at least about 4 hours.
  18. Turn the pudding out of the mould, then serve.
