Chocolate Pudding Ingredients:

Steps

  1. Put the plain jelly powder and sugar into a pot, then stir them together first so the powder does not clump when the liquid goes in.
  2. Pour in the liquid milk, then stir until evenly combined.
  3. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until it boils.
  4. Mix the melted margarine with the egg yolks, stir until combined, then set it aside.
  5. Once the mixture boils, lower the heat, take a little of the pudding mixture and stir it into the margarine mixture until combined.
  6. Pour that mixture back into the pot while stirring constantly so it does not clump, then carry on cooking until it boils again.
  7. Turn off the heat, then add about five drops of yellow food colouring and stir until evenly combined.
  8. Pour half of the mixture into the mould, then leave it until set or until the surface forms a skin.
  9. Put the plain jelly powder and sugar into another pot, then stir until evenly combined.
  10. Pour in the liquid milk, stir until combined, then add the dark cooking chocolate cut into small pieces.
  11. Cook over medium heat while stirring constantly until it boils, then turn off the heat.
  12. Touch the surface of the pudding to check that it has formed a skin and is firm enough to take the next layer.
  13. While the chocolate mixture has only just boiled, pour it slowly and spread out into the mould so the pudding does not sink and the layers stick together.
  14. Leave it until the surface sets; do not shake or slide it or it will sink.
  15. Reheat the remaining butter pudding mixture over low heat while stirring constantly until it boils, then turn off the heat.
  16. Touch the surface of the chocolate layer to check it is firm, then pour the rest of the mixture into the mould.
  17. Leave it until the pudding sets and firms up, then chill it in the fridge for at least about four hours before serving.
  18. Turn the pudding out of the mould, then serve.
