Privacy

As short as it can be, with no sentence that has to be read twice. This is what resep. keeps, and there is nothing else.

Your account

If you sign up: a display name, an email address, and a password kept as a hash. The password itself is never stored. If you sign in with Google, what is kept is your Google account id and your email address, not your password. The site works completely without an account; an account is only needed to keep notes, favourites, a shopping list and a meal plan.

What you write

A Catatan Masak entry written under a video is read by other visitors, with your display name on it. That is what it is for. Your private note, your favourites, your shopping list and your meal plan are yours alone: all of them are read through your account and never appear on anyone else's page.

Page views

One row per page opened: which page, where the visit came from, phone or desktop, and anything typed into the search box, plus your account, if you are signed in. What is not stored: your IP address and your user agent. A visitor is identified by a daily token, a digest of the IP, the user agent, today's date and the site's own secret; tomorrow that token is a different token, so nobody (us included) can follow a person from one day to the next. The numbers are used for one thing: knowing which recipes people are looking for.

Third parties

No ads, no Google Analytics, nobody's pixel. There is one outside address every page talks to, i.ytimg.com, which is where the video thumbnails come from. The YouTube player itself is not loaded until you press play (until then there is only a still image on the screen), and it is loaded from YouTube's cookie-free domain. From the moment you press play, YouTube's own terms apply.

Cookies

Two things, both this site's own: a session cookie that keeps you signed in, and the language you last read in, so the front door does not ask twice. No advertising cookies and no third-party cookies.

Deleting

Deleting an account deletes everything written with it: the cook notes, the private notes, the favourites, the shopping list and the meal plan go with it, rather than being hidden.
